"Standard rooms very poor for 4* hotel xxxxx Lanchester Gate"

Really disappointed at room quality at this expensive hotel. Double room had bed wedged against one wall of narrow room so person sleeping on that side could not get out other than scrambling over partner. Also bed appeared small double. Bathroom small with tiny sink and no shelves. Limited headroom under shower as ceiling bulkhead crashed at shoulder level. Not value for money at all.

"Full Marks to The xxxxx Hotel Manager Zeeshan Kalim & Staff "

The Hotel was clean, comfortable & perfectly placed for shopping, theatre & long walks in xxxxx xxxxx. Booking through Hotel Direct was however a huge mistake. Prices on their website were inflated before being discounted e.g. to around double the price of a standard room.

Hotel nice but the double standard room is tiny other than that the breakfast was maybe the best I have had in a hotel

There was a couple in the next room arguing in the early hours of the morning, didn`t have very good sleep. The breakfast was very good .

We stayed here a while ago and booked direct with the hotel. We had a lovely room over looking xxxxx xxxxx. So when we booked the `secret hotel` through holiday direct we were delighted to be in the same hotel that we already knew was good, but at a bargain price! However, this time it was reflected in the price we paid. We had a very small room, felt as though we were in a broom cupboard or basement. Not overlooking anything nice. The decor was very tired and worn. We went to have a nice breakfast, as we mentioned our room number, we were sent to the downstairs restaurant for breakfast, which was very average. This time round, I wouldn`t say it deserved a 4 star rating, but it was ok. On a positive note, the bel canto opera singing waiters/waitresses were fantastic! And after we popped upstairs to the bar for a night cap and thoroughly enjoyed Paul the entertainer singing some Sinatra.

"very nice hotel. good location."

Ordered some food at the bar late evening to be told the kitchen was closed. Was told I could order pizza that would take 10 mins but 40 mins later I was still waiting. Overall the hotel was good.

very good hotel but external ventilation noise is very loud if you are at the rear of the hotel with a brick wall a few feet away, not what you would expect for the cost. Thistle xxxxx xxxxx would be my first choice.
