Further news has been released regarding a sizeable renovation project and Edinburgh`s Royal Botanic Garden, with the developments helping to sustain it as one of the capital`s most popular landmarks.

At an estimated cost of £40m, it comes after the Scottish government donated £1.5 million to the institution. Just some of the plans include a series of highly efficient glasshouses, adding to the exciting alpine greenhouse we have previously reported on. They would provide a robust home for the plants, whilst also leaking minimal energy, meaning that energy consumption would be reduced by as much as 50%.

Other integral plans are to improve the toilet facilities and disabled access around the grounds, whilst also modernising labs and building more educational facilites; all of which are to help secure the gardens as a globally recognised attraction for years to come. If you happen to be staying in any of the hotels in Edinburgh during the coming weeks, why not come and check out the splendour of the Royal Botanic Garden in its bloom?
