American alternative country music band Calexico is to perform in Barcelona next month as part of an extensive European tour.

The popular band, whose musical style has been influenced by traditional Latin sounds such as mariachi, conjunto, cumbia and Tejano music, will be performing at the Apolo 2 in Barcelona on 11 November.

Their style has been described by some as ‘desert noir` or indie rock, whilst they are probably best known for their sixth studio album ‘Carried to Dust`, which was well received by critics and the public alike.

They released their seventh studio album, ‘Algiers`, in September, which again enjoyed positive reviews, and although they are yet to break into the mainstream music industry, it is only a matter of time before they take the world by storm.
