Barcelona has long been a popular tourist destination, with its wealth of incredible landmarks and glowing relationship with the arts proving to be popular draw for millions of people throughout the year.

Despite the much reported economic crisis in Spain, it seems tourism numbers to Barcelona are set to soar to record heights, with the Catalonian capital welcoming over 8.4 million people during the first seven months of 2012. Whilst marking an 8.9% increase compared to figures last year, it means the city is responsible for 25.6% of all tourism to Spain, clearly proving its dominance among the country`s gleaming tourism scene.

In addition to this, recent figures have proven that a staggering 2,026,725 people visited the city last month, with the 9% increase on last year`s figures also marking the first time more than 2 million people have visited the city during July since 2007.

With landmarks such as Sagrada Familia, Park Guell and La Rambla, these impressive figures are understandable. If you are keen to escape on a fantastic city break in the coming months, why not book into one of the beautiful Barcelona hotels and discover the city yourself?
