Barcelona is looking forward to hosting its 17th annual Earth Day celebrations with the amazing Fira de la Terra festival. Taking place on the 21st and 22nd April, the event is held every year in the city`s most central park, the Parc de la Ciutadella, and features a wide variety of activities designed to raise awareness of ethical trading and environmental issues.
Established in 1996, Fira de la Terra is proud of its successful history and emphasises the importance of producing and buying locally sourced goods; all of the stalls which successfully secure a place at the festival have to sign the ‘Earth Charter`, which sets out guidelines for building a fair and sustainable 21st century society. Elsewhere, a great selection of family-friendly craft activities and performances will be taking place throughout the weekend.
If you are considering staying at one of the many excellent
Barcelona hotels in the coming months, make sure your holiday coincides with this exciting and unique festival.
