A fascinating and insightful exhibition demonstrating the power and lasting cultural impact Empress Catherine the Great had on Russia has been opened at Scotland`s National Museum in Edinburgh.
Collaborating with the State Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia, a range of extremely rare pieces related to the 18th century Russian ruler will be on display until 21 October, with tickets available from
National Museum of Scotland website.
Regarded by many historians as one of Russia`s most successful rulers, she had a sharp wit and passionate commitment to the future of her beloved country, and is considered by some as the greatest art collector of all time.
Among the works on display is a freshly restored giant portrait of Catherine, one that has not been on display since the Russian revolution in 1917.
Come and sample this fantastic cultural display whilst enjoying a break in one of the idyllic
hotels in Edinburgh this summer.
