The city of Edinburgh is preparing to welcome a special festival that will promote diversity and celebrate South Asian culture in the Scottish capital at the end of this summer.
Taking place between the 31st August and 2nd September, the ever-popular annual Edinburgh Mela will this year begin with a free performance of Rama and Sita, a legendary story from Hindi folklore. A joint project between Edinburgh-based Dance Ihayami and Walk the Plank, a pyrotechnical theatre company who are known for their incendiary live productions, the play will be the perfect way to kick off the festival`s proceedings.
The next two days will see a mixture of great dance, fashion and food showcased, with all visitors sure to find something they`ll enjoy throughout this exciting and eclectic celebration.
A standard day pass for the Edinburgh Mela costs just £3 and is completely free for children, with the event promising to be a great value way to explore the best of what this fantastic city has to offer. Why not look up Edinburgh hotels
