Edinburgh has been named as officially the most beautiful city in Scotland by the Royal Horticultural Society at the recent Keep Scotland Beautiful awards.

This means that the capital will now go on to represent its country in the prestigious Britain in Bloom awards, with the city`s Councillors hoping that it will bring home the coveted overall prize that they believe it deserves.

Edinburgh has taken huge steps to become more attractive over the last year, taking initiatives such as signing up no less than 11,000 voluntary litter pickers and sowing 10 wildflower meadows in partnership with the city`s university.
