In some fantastic news for Barcelona, details have emerged of a brand new entertainment facility that could become the largest family recreation resort on the continent.

Aptly named Barcelona World, the resort has been outlined for a location just on the outskirts of the Catalonian capital. Described as a mega theme park, the resort will house six different theme parks across an area as large as 826 acres. With hotels, casinos, restaurants, swimming pools, golf courses and theatres just some of the plans outlined for the resort, officials behind the €4.5 billion project are hoping to attract more than 10 million visitors a year.

Barcelona World has been earmarked to be open to the public in time for 2016, a development already generating mass excitement despite being four years away. In the mean time, a stay in one of the beautiful Barcelona hotels still presents the basis for a fantastic European city break at anytime of the year.
