The new chief executive of Edinburgh Zoo has taken up his post at the popular attraction, as it was confirmed that the famed adorable giant pandas have doubled visitor numbers over the past six months.
Following six years as CEO of Zoo South Australia, Professor Chris West comes to Edinburgh with a wealth of experience and replaces acting chief executive Hugh Roberts.
His arrival comes off the back of some encouraging news for the attraction, after it was confirmed 300,000 visitors passed through the panda enclosure alone since it opened earlier in the year.
One of the most popular days out for families visiting the Scottish capital, the Edinburgh Zoo boasts a variety of fascinating creatures gathered from the far corners of the world, including penguins, lions and leopards.
It could be a great day out for any of those enjoying a break in one of the fine
hotels in Edinburgh this year.
