An historic brewery site in Edinburgh could play host to a brewing museum in the future as part of a canal-side regeneration project being developed by local residents.
Ideas are being put forward by the Fountainbridge Community Initiative on how best to use the former Scottish & Newcastle brewery site, with the group favouring proposals for a ‘mixed development` site, following the examples set by top European cities such as Amsterdam and Milan, which could attract more visitors to some of the stunning
hotels in Edinburgh.
Some of the suggestions put forward so far include the aforementioned brewing museum, a flexible covered market space for food or art and craft makers, gardens and allotment spaces or even a children`s science museum.
Although still in the early stages of discussion, the prospective development could be a great addition to the already buzzing Scottish capital, which already boasts a raft of fascinating cultural institutions.
