An exhibition exploring the contrasting variances of fashion exhibited by men and women during the 1800s has begun in the French capital.
Aptly titled Impressionism: Fashion and Modernity, it is currently housed at the Musée d`Orsay in Paris until 20 January 2013 and will showcase some of the finest works of the 19th century impressionist movement at its most insightful and perceptive, including – amongst others – Edouard Manet`s Jeune Dame en 1866.
A natural by-product of this type of art was the natural representation of human figures in their daily surroundings and thus exhibiting the fashions and attitudes of their times, an element that forms the main focal point of this fascinating exhibition.
Just one of many prevalent displays and exhibitions throughout the cultural capital of Europe, it could represent a great day out for any of those planning a break in one of the excellent
hotels in Paris over the coming months.
