Bristol based music group Portishead are set to perform two shows in the Catalonian capital this summer, it has been confirmed.
The popular band, regarded as pioneers of the trip hop and electronic music scenes, will be performing at the Poble Espanyol + Razzmatazz on 22 and 23 June.
They are perhaps best known for their debut album ‘Dummy`, which was catapulted to number two on the UK Album Chart upon its release in 1994. It has sold over two million copies in Europe and has been certified double-platinum in the UK. It also won the 1995 Mercury Music Prize, seeing off competition from the likes of PJ Harvey and Oasis.
Frequently cited as one of the best albums of the 1990`s, they followed up with an eponymous album in 1997, which was also well received by the public and critics alike, before taking a six year hiatus from 1999-2005.
