Edinburgh has always been highly regarded for its parks and gardens, with millions of visitors taking advantage of them during their time in the city. Their reputation has been further boosted following the results of this year`s Green Flag Awards, receiving a record number of awards for its luscious greenspaces and snatching more than anywhere else in the country.
A number of different parameters are considered before the awards are given, with officials judging the area on being a welcoming place, clean, well-maintained and sustainable. In all, the capital bagged 24 awards at this year`s ceremony, more than half of all the accolades given to the whole of Scotland. An example of the high calibre of greenspaces in the city, no fewer than 20 retained their status, while Ravelston Park and Woods, Lochend Park, Prestonfield Park and Ferry Glen and Back Braes were all new additions for the impressive catalogue of premier parks Edinburgh holds.
If you happen to be looking forward to a stay in any of the ideally located
Edinburgh hotels, be sure to check out some of the award-winning greenspaces the Scottish capital has to offer.
