With its wealth of fascinating landmarks and experience, France has along been a popular destination for tourists all over the world. In some fantastic news for the country, it has smashed its previous record for tourism levels, welcoming a massive 81.4 million people during 2011.
Taken from the official tourism figures for the country, it left the previous record of 77.6 million in its wake, a figure set back in 2010, marking a 4.8% increase despite some initial fears over tourism in the country. European visitors certainly made up the bulk of travellers, with 67.8 million of them accounting for almost 84% of the total.
