"welcoming staff, but an awful room."

We were made very welcome by the staff but the room was tiny, the beds uncomfortable and overall not acceptable for the price we paid. We took account of the fact that it is Edinburgh Festival but felt that visitors are taken advantage of -definitely not worth the money.

Good hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room on the top floor.Only slight irritation no toiletries or shower cap in room.

"New Years Eve Hotel"

I have nothing negative to say about the Piries Hotel. It is clean, warm and friendly, however, if I was to stay again, I would be asking for a room above ground. It was very strange sleeping in what would have been the servants quarters in years gone by!! All in all good value for money.

Room awful and cramped. Up steep stairs. Shower filthy on the inside. No heating controls or heating on. No wi-fi or breakfast included in the price. Staff were helpful. Very very poor value for money. This is a disgrace to Scottish hospitality. I will recommend everyone I know to steer well clear of this establishment.

"Comfortable"

Small room but comfortable, lack of clothes hanging area and draws so had I been staying longer than one night I would not have been able to unpack, good choice of breakfast and staff helpful

"Friendly. Excellent breakfast. Easy to reach via airport bus. Our room small and basic."

Fine for short stay. Seemed very cramped. A bit noisy as little sound insulation. City centre walkable from hotel. Reasonable for price.

"Be Careful"

Piries Hotel is a cheap and cheerful budget hotel reasonably close to the centre of Edinburgh. It comprises three houses, two of which have been converted to form the main hotel area and a third which has not. The third house is not directly connected to the main hotel. You must leave the hotel and go next door. (Separate key, separate entrance) This would be acceptable except for the fact that you are now in a block of flats with bicycles chained to the stairs and tenants living there who are not guests of the hotel. Rooms have no en-suites, you have to leave your room for a shower or to use the bathroom and you really feel a lack of security. So, if you book with the Piries make sure you specify that you want a room in the main hotel building. Apart from that the hotel is perfectly acceptable.

"shower not working and tv not worker"

We arrived early, and we were put into another room, thankfully we had already showered. we were due at the wedding venue within the hour. I had spoken to the receptionist about the T.V. before leaving. She send it would sorted before we returned. when we returned the T.V. had not been sorted. The following morning I went for a shower only to find out that it did not work. It was apparent that this had been like this for sometime.On reporting this to the receptionist she was apoligetic for our inconvience and offered us a complimentary breakfast.This does not justify the issues raised, overall view was disapointing.
