"Very small, dated and less than helpful staff."

I booked the hotel as I was doing the moonwalk so needed somewhere for my husband to sleep and for me to get ready and have a shower in the morning. It was lucky really that only my husband needed to sleep there as the room was tiny, and you couldnt turn round in the bathroom. The staff were moderately helpful when we checked in, but dont think i ever saw a smile from them. We had no electric in our room, and upon reporting it the lady at reception was most unhelpful and just kept saying someone will see to it. We checked in at 3pm and eventually at 6.30 and after lots of chasing up, someone came and flicked the tripswitch - something I could have done immediately. My husband went down for breakfast at 9am and the minimal breakfast was very stale and uninviting.I never stay in expensive hotels, normally opt for a premier inn type accommodation which would have been far superior to this hotel. I certainly would not stay there again.

"Pleasantly Surprised - Would Recommend"

This was described as a budget hotel, so I wasn`t expecting too much. However, I was pleasantly surprised, and I would book here again on a future visit. The staff in particular were very helpful and pleasant - nothing was a problem, and everything was done with a smile. The continental breakfast was very good, with plenty of choice available. The rooms were small, but clean, and all that you would need on a two night city break. 24 hour reception worked perfectly, even though we arrived at odd hours. All in all - a very pleasant stay. Would recommend.

"Lovely"

The Paddington was just lovely, considering the price and where it was, convenient for underground and most transport. Breakfast was also good. Would definately stay again.

"Had every thing we needed for the weekend."

The room was adequate although small had everything we needed. a few of the lights were not working when we arrived but were fixed the same day when we reported them to reception. The room could have done with a coat of paint as the walls were marked quite badly, there were also cobwebs hanging from the ceiling but the rest of the room and bathroom were clean The Breakfast was ok,

"good value for money"

please be aware there are 5 floors and no lift!the rooms are VERY small, and arnt the cleanest!That said, reception and breakfast staff were very friendly and couldnt do enough to accomodate us. Breakfast was simple, but plenty of it and it was all fresh.

"Nice room, shame about the stairs and noise"

The room, while nice was ruined by the fact that every time either we or a neighbouring room turned on the flat, we were forced to endure a loud churning noise of everyone`s boilers. This made no sense as it came on regardless of whether a cold or warm tap was turned on. The noise was quite disruptive to our nights sleep. The breakfasts were nice and the staff polite, but it`s a shame the room was a bit of a let down.

Pleasent staff on booking in reception and helpful. Room ok but very tired deco etc but at the price £78 for a double room in London really can`t complain.

"Good hotel would use again."

Nice hotel close to 2 tube lines. Staff very helpfull. Rooms are clean. Sleeping in rooms on the main street might be an issue for some as cars passing. Would stay again no problem.

"Needed mountaineering experience to get to our room !"

Very basic room which was clean but could have done with a couple of chairs, bathroom was clean but lacked anywhere to hang anything up. This hotel is no good for anyone elderly or infirm as there is no lift to any of the 4 floors. I booked this hotel for 4 people in 2 rooms months in advance and they still managed to put one couple on the 2nd floor and the other on the 3rd. Will not book this hotel again.....

"Only ok!"

Hotel was ok, location not bad, but would have been better if the tubes weren`t on strike...obviously not their fault. Loads of stairs with no lift, so be aware of this. Room was fair but very hot and stuffy. Tired looking, but cleanish. In desparate need of new carpets, lots of stains and dodgy smell in the hallway. Overall, good for the price and for one night.

"Super deal for the price"

The accommodation rate, being so reasonable, I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness, size of space and overall service at the hotel. I would come back for sure. It is conveniently located 4 short blocks away from the Paddington train station.

the scrappy note on the front door telling you to book in at the hotel across the road was a let down, as it stated this was because of road works, but there were none around. The hotel across the road was very different and their lounge was nice to sit in while waiting for the room to be ready. The room was basic but had all that was needed for a one night stay, and was quite. Very good shower, hot and powerful. Breakfast again was basic but ok.

Room very comfortable, a little too small to be excellent. Fridge was useful in the hot weather. Firm comfortable bed. Good shower. Very convenient for tube. Felt pleasantly like being in a town house rather than a hotel.

"paddington hotel has 8flights of stairs and no lift. though it is very central ."

the paddington has 8flights of stairs which our room was at the top floor with no lift..though it is very central to everything. the room itself was clean and tidy and brealfast is your basic continental.. overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

The Hotel was situated just down the road from Lancaster Gate station - also near Hyde Park - lovely location! Hotel staff very freindly & room very pleasant & clean. We will be returning to this hotel on our next visit to London.

"Excellent Location, Brilliant service!"

Located 5mins walk from Lancaster gate tube station or 10 mins walk from padington tube and mainline station. Everywhere was accessible!Room was very clean and modern. Loved fact that had a fridge in room to keep own drinks in. Plenty of tea and coffee available. Breakfast was super. Always a little doubtful when booking cheaper hotels in cities but would definately use this one again!

"Could have been better"

The hotel on entry could have been better ie carpet on the stairs had seen better days and not very safe, but the room was satisfactory for the price we paid and breakfast was adequate and the two girls in the breakfast room were pleasant and efficient. You made sure you didn`t forget anything before leaving your room being on the top floor and no lift.

Thanks for organising the baby cot. It was so great that it was in the room ready for us to put up. The staff were always ready to help with checking in, moving suitcases and offerring tourist info. We would stay again without a doubt.

Pleasant room: good size for one person. Clean room and bed linen although counterpane looked as if it hadn`t been near a washing machine for some time. Pleased there was tea and coffee making facilities in the room and the breakfast was healthy with plenty of choice. Overall, very good value for money. Thank you.
