"A good hotel in a great location, though the room needs some attention."
Room comfortable, but could do with some drawers. Bathroom smelled musty and washbasin took 5 minutes to drain. Safe didn`t work. Balcony excellent, overlooking the Grassmarket. View of the castle fantastic. Breakfast first class.

"bed really uncomfortable - mattress too soft and uneven, dipping in middle - spoilt our stay"
Location good, breakfast good, room good (apart from Bed), facilities OK but couldn`t get wifi to work - office very helpful in printing emails for me as the printer on the landing didn`t work. Restaurant v expensive and food/helpings poor value for money.

"Very enjoyable stay."
We had an excellent time at the Apex International. The room was lovely, a good size, nicely decorated. Breakfast was very enjoyable and of a high standard with perfect views of Edinburgh Castle ? food of a very high quality and staff very professional. Room not ready at advertised check in time of 2.30pm and we were told to come back at 3.45pm - we were very tired from travelling on the sleeper train so a bit disappointing but could not fault anything else at all. Highly recommended.

"I thought that the bedroom decor was tired, especially the bathrooms. No fans working in bathroom "
Cont/ so mirrors steamed up. No bath robes. I was disappointed with the service at breakfast, insufficient staffing levels. I had to clear my table to accommodate the cooked breakfast and trying to get more tea and toast was almost impossible. However the wedding breakfast I cannot fault which is the reason we were there. Well done for Mark and Katie`s big day.

"BATHROOM LIGHTING"
The use of low voltage LED lighting within the bathroom is not really adequate lighting for shaving and fro make up etc.

"Good service, accommodation was good with one or two little problems. Location for Edinburgh was exc"
A really good stay for doing the Edinburgh New Year visit. Hotel was very good in most respects. A couple of problems with room, fan extractor was not working in bathroom which meant it was very steamed up. The foyer was often very crowded and access to lifts was at times very difficult. This was partly due to being there for the Hogaanay celebrations with also a wedding and various parties going on. Access to rooms via the lifts was a little slow at times. Rooms were very satisfactory. Level 5 restaurant was excellent and service throughout was very good.

"Perfect location, excellant service and hospitality"
We were a party of 8 and all of us agreed that the location, service and staff could not have been better. Based on our stay at your hotel we will definately be returning to Edinburgh and we don`t want to wait until New Year to do it!Thank you.

"We had an enjoyable stay at Apex Int"
For 2 days out of 3 we failed to have our requested (or any) newspaper delivered. Also one of our rooms on our arrival day wasn`t ready until 4.30pm. Also despite reporting it to the chambermaid on day 1 we failed to receive a replacememnt light bulb for a bedside lamp. Despite all of this however we enjoyed our stay and in particular the food in the brasserie was excellent.

"we found the rooms very good, well decorated. handy for the theatre and the breakfast excellent"
We were there on a party night and to be quite honest, the small bar at the rear was less than adequate when the party night guests were drinking there and hogging the bar. you must lose revenue through this, as we went to bed and so did many others who could not get near the bar. Otherwise, we will certainly use the hotel again.

"Great Location, Good Price"
The hotel is in an excellent location 10-15 minutes maximum time for walking anywhere in central Edinburgh. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are comfortable and clean. We had a city room which is smaller and has no view of the castle but when we stay again, which we will, we`ll upgrade to a larger castle view room. The breakfasts are cooked to order instead of buffet which is always a plus. Last but not least excellent pubs across the road with live music in the white hart all week.

"Staff in all areas were wonderful - polite, friendly, helpful - a joy! "
Would definitely use APEX again. Room was lovely, bathroom spotless. Food in Metro brasserie delicious. Good service at all times. Breakfast restaurant was heaving but never felt rushed or that any request was too much bother. Staff were great - an asset to the hotel.

"Helpful staff"
Some early problems we had re. the room were solved quickly and without fuss by the staff changing and upgrading our room and throwing in a complimentary drink! Everything else fine - the only slight niggle being that the double-glazing wasn`t efficient at cutting down road noise.

"Lovely large room with excellent facilities, overlooking castle. Very friendly staff and good food."
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Apex International Hotel. Sadly there are extensive road works being carried out at the front and this caused some disturbance early mornings. However it should be lovely when finished. Also be prepared for late night/early morning noise from the pubs opposite. It is a very popular location for young hen and stag parties! Didn`t bother us too much and was quieter on Sunday night. Bonus of front room is magnificent view of Edinburgh Castle.

"Great location for weekend break in Edinburgh"
10minutes walk from Princes street, 5 mins walk from castle, with many restaurants and bars on doorstep. Guests should be warned that the area directly outside is being pedestrianised, so many roadworks at the moment. Will be great when completed. Staff friendly. Beds very comfortable. Breakfast very good.

"Clean and very comfortable hotel in a central Edinburgh location. Great value for money."
Good service and very comfortable rooms. Although the front facing rooms can be noisy from the street due to the location in the Grassmarket. We were unable to close our windows properly and it is noisy. The Heights restaurant was excellent and the staff were extremely friendly and professional. Fabulous view of Edinburgh castle from the Heights restaurant.

"Very small rooms and tiny somewhat public swimming pool"
Room was very small but clean. The swimming pool is on the ground floor at the front of the hotel on a busy Edinburgh Road. Although the windows have opaque sections I still felt on show to the pedestrians walking by. Staff in hotel were very helpful and polite.

"A relaxing atmosphere surrounded by friendly staff What more can you ask for!"
We were greeted by a friendly receptionist on checking in. A clean & spacious room, with all our requirements meet. They even found out it was our wedding anniversary & left us some chocolates, card & free drink voucher in our room. We used the Metro bar frequently which was relaxing & nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Breakfast was served promptly, hot & appetising, with plenty of choice. This was our second time at this hotel, & we intend to return next year.

"Great location and what a view!"
I booked the Apex International as a gift for my friends birthday. The room was lovely and the staff were very helpful. We used all the facilities which were lovely and the view from the restaurant were stunning. There were building works going on at the time outside, unsightly but they had no effect on our stay and the plans look great so once completed the area would be even better. We had a great meal at a seafood restaurant nearby and a fab night in the "Beehive" pub across the road. We would recommend the Apex and we`ll be back.

"First impressions excellent"
Shower was over the bath, not walk in as advertised on internet. First (and only) usage of shower showed thermostat not working, consequently cold shower. Reported to reception but nothing done by the time we left next day.Ordered in room food service Friday night, tray was still in our room Sunday when we left!!Overall, not impressed. Would not return.

"Great room with a lovely view of the castle, staff very helpful, food great"
We had to go to the Apex City for our lunch as there was a wedding fayre on in the International. I ordered Caesar salad for starters without anchovies, what I received was plain lettuce, a few croutons and a few shavings of parmesan. For the main course I ordered the beef dinner. My beef was pink on the inside, so I asked for it to be cooked somemore, when it was returned the meat was charred, the vegetables were cold and the yorkshire pud had vanished, I politely asked for the yorkshire pudding. When it was bought back it tasted of doughnut batter. My husbands meal wasn`t much better. Having asked for the bill we were charged for a 3 course meal. I mentioned it to the girl who said she was in charge that day, and her whole attitude changed. We did get a reduction in the price but it spoilt the whole weekend as our stay in the International was perfect.

"Efficient service, pity about the breakfast..."
As our first time in Edinburgh the directions we were given were confusing at best but anyway, we arrived and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. They upgraded our room to one with a castle view which was excellent. The room was clean and tidy but the bath room was a little shabby and small for the price of the room. Overall the Apex International is very well situated for all of the sites and close to the Royal Mile and not too far from Princess Street. The one dissapointing element was the breakfast which at £12.50, if not included, would have been a rip off. For 4 stars we would have expected a traditional harty fry up instead we were given a greasy plate of bacon (undercooked), haggis (apparently) and a few mushrooms.... In summary probably not worth the money, the views from our window of the castle were fantastic and we loved Edinburgh but will try a different hotel next time...

"Facilities themselves were excellent, just a few little glitches with service. "
Added bonus in having parking - ideally placed for restaurants and bars though.
