"Bad nights sleep"

Overall the hotel is good, location being the best thing. If stating here request you are not in a room next to the lifts and fire exit as all we could hear was people coming and going all night

"Very basic rooms and expensive drinks"

Although we upgraded to a premium room it was very basic and we expected the decoration to be more contemporary given the entrance and reception of the hotel.

"good location for my personal circumstances"

Room actually in annexe across from the main building. Pool not as large as appears on the photo. Good facilities re gym etc. Overall good value for money.

"Friendly staff and excellent service in the heart of London"

I`ve now been twice and will probably return. Helpful reception staff. the breakfasts are excellent and the waiters and waitresses very friendly and attentive. The gym is not open when I would like particularly at weekends and holidays. Thanks again!! Iain

"Very good hotel, great service great food top class!"

We were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of service and food at this hotel, we stayed overbthe bank holiday and the hotel was full, but that did not distract from the excellent, service from all of the staff. We have stayed at Thistle Hotels in London a lot and all are good, but must recommend this one as the best yet

"just right location"

hotel check-in was made so easy rooms and hotel very clean. bar man at bar in afternoon very polite. only thing price of wine was a shock but my fault should of read bar menu and got bottle instead.. will recormend this hotel.

"Could have been better"

We went with this hotel as it was quite reasonably priced for london. I dont have any real complaintsand the breakfast was fantastic however this hotel is a bit dated, the pillows not great and no not whatever you do think you`ll have dinner at the hotel. My husband was ill so we decided to eat at the hotel rather than traipse across london and the food was truly awful and really really expensive. I think if we hadn`t eaten dinner there I would have thought our stay was much better.

"Good hotel all-round"

This Hotel is very well equipped and well located - Old St station being a short 10 minute walk away.There are a range of dining and drinking options but i am yet to sample these! One thing you know you are always going to get with what is primarily a business hotel is well-equipped rooms - hair dryer, ironing board and iron, trouser press, etc. Obviously the rooms are not particularly modern but they are very clean and comfortable. overall, a good experience.

"Open Account"

I opened an account on Friday 12/4/13 but on Satuday when I went to order drinks on Saturday 13/4/2013 I was told I did not have an account . I had to go to reception to sort the matter out This was quite embarrasing as there were a few people in the bar and at receptionOn Sunday morning I went to get breakfast vouchers and was told the same thing but I did get the vouchers As I say this was quite embarring to have happened once but to happen twice I feel was was unacceptableWhen I went to get breakfast voucher

"good value for money"

Catered for our needs and we made good use of the pool and sauna facilities which were clean and well maintained although the steam room was out of order at the time of our visit. It was further out of town than we thought it would be and would recommend using Old Street tube rather than Barbican which was a good 20- 25 min walk

"Lovely clean hotel, nice staff particularly a very helpful concierge, very good breakfast"

Nice hotel for a weekend break. Close to transport links to West End. No queue for breakfast which is unusual and all staff contacts were pleasant and helpful. Sauna was out of commission and lift from health club was not working but the overall experience was good and I would recommend it to others.

Friendly staff, and very helpful. Good facilities, used the pool, and sauna, on a budget price this is pretty impressive. breakfast menu , much improved on what one would expect from the usual International format. I would stay again.

Quick check-in and check-out. Nothing too much trouble for the staff - even to the extent of switching channels on the big screen in the bart for us!Will not hesitate to use again, or to recommend to others.

"Handy for the Barbican"

We opted for the Thistle, thinking we`d get the headline (ie. cheapest) rate, but we didn`t. We did however get a free upgrade, as the first room we were offered and given the key to, in the annex, was already occupied, when we entered, so after sorting it out at the reception, we got a superior room f.o.c. in the main building. The room was fine, and perfect for our needs, and having a tea tray, we didn`t sample the breakfast. I would stay again, if we were going back to the Barbican.

"Wonderfull hotel"

The Thistle Barbican Was a wonderfull choice hotel for are short break in London. The locatoin was very good in a nice area and easy to get to to the main attractions. The staff were 1st class and very freindly and helpfull.

"hotel feedback"

This was my first visit to a Thistle hotel, and after looking at the hotel website pics I had high expectations. Unfortunately my expectations of the hotel were met with some negatives I am afraid. The problems I encountered were...1) Bathroom mirror was 3/4 of a meter away from the bathroom sink so it was hard to shave (and I cut my self as a result)2) No lighting near the wardrobe area3) Very thin walls which meant the conversion and TV sound could easily be heard from next door.

Great hotel! Was nicely surprised as had been put off by some of the reviews on trip advisor Ignore them.... As we found the room was great! Bathroom was too and perfect location! Under 10 mins walk.Staff were helpful and quick checkin

"Small but clean. Noisy"

Room was small but clean although a bit tired looking. Surprisingly good shower though. Room I had faced into road and was therefore incredibly noisy from road traffic and people being noisy. Assume this is because student accomodation is literally next door.

Your personel forgot to register my wake up call. This has caused me considerable prejudice and I was 2 hours late for a very important meeting. This is very disappointing and as I am a frequent traveler I rely on the hotel personnel to do thier jobs. This should be corrected as soon as possible.

The Thistle Barbican is nicely furnished and comfortable. Within easy reach of the City. I used it as a business hotel base and would certainly do so again.

"good service at this modern hotel in an interesting part of London"

the hotel was perfect for our short stay in London to celebrate a special occasion, it was handy for the barbican where we had booked a concert.the staff were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed the peace and quiet

The reception staff were very helpful, the bar is good and the rooms were clean and tidy. I would reccomend this hotel.

"Friendly, clean and the spa was a great addition"

The hotel was a Thistle so it was going to be of a certain standard. With regards a theatre break, this hotel is a little out of the way. You have to change tubes a couple of time. We arrived early to enjoy some shopping and there was no problem leaving our bags (too early for check in). The room was exactly as the photos and although we were accommodated in the building opposite the main reception this wasn`t a problem. The only criticism was the heat. The room was too warm. Even with the windows open as far as they would go it was very warm, even in November. Although it was a bit further out than we have stayed before, we had a great walk on the Sunday into the City and onto Tower Bridge, Tower of London and other main attractions. Again, the hotel were more than happy for us to leave our bags. The Thistle more than met our needs.
