'Homage to Fokine: Chopiniana / The Firebird / Scheherazade - Mariinsky Ballet' might just be for you.
This brilliant night out features a composition of three Fokine ballets as the title would suggest, Chopiniana, The Firebird and Scheherazade which weave a narrative throughout the piece showcasing Fokine’s great chorographical skill.
The piece opens with the sublime and ethereal beauty of Chopiniana, which showcases the breathtaking skill of the Company’s corps de ballet. We then move on to the powerful magnificence of Mikhael Fokine’s The Firebird, in stark contrast to the opening piece, which show cases the best of medieval Russia. Finally the show closes with Scheherazade another exceptional piece created for the Ballet Russes.
This setup of fantastic ballet is further enhanced with Rimsky-Korsakov’s musical brilliance and the extravagance of the glittering performance of Mariinsky’s great stars, Diana Vishneva, Igor Kolb, Uliana Lopatkina and Igor Zelensky.
