This month sees another excellent production arriving onto the boards of the West End, hoping to replicate the success of other performances over the years.

Juno and the Paycock’ is a play by Sean O’Casey, starring the Boyle family in working class Dublin back in the 1920’s. The family is made of up the father Jack, his wife Juno and their children Johnny and Mary. Jack Boyle is a master of deception, claiming he can’t work due to injury; instead opting to reside in the pub all day. On the other hand his wife Juno does her upmost for the house by working, the only one in the family to do so.

When a distant relative dies, the family begin living the highlife due to a proposed inheritance. Later in the performance news arrives that the inheritance isn’t coming, creating a mood of disbelief, sorrow and anger as the family struggle to pay back everything they have bought and owe. The timing is made even worse when daughter Mary announces she is pregnant.

Juno and the Paycock will open at London’s Lyttleton theatre on the 17th Noevember, playing through till the 3rd January. If you’re interested in seeing this excellent production, why not browse the range of theatre breaks in London to guarantee the perfect London break.
