After one of the most magical sporting events to take place in the capital`s rich history, the London 2012 Olympics signed off in typically spectacular fashion last night in what was a great advert to the rest of the world.
A wonderful musical ceremony, featuring performances from some of the biggest names in British pop, including the Spice Girls, George Michael and Elbow, was acclaimed by many around the world, with some stating it was as good an advert as it could have been for London.
London 2012 chairman Lord Coe claimed ‘we lit the flame and lit up the world`, calling the capital in his closing speech to the audience a ‘wonderful city`.
The benefits of hosting the Olympics should reverberate around the city for years to come, with the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park set to open on 27 July 2013 as just one of many new additions to the capital`s activity landscape.
Why not check it out whilst enjoying a break in one of the fine
hotels in London over the coming months and see the positive effect the Olympics has had?
