Radio 1`s Hackney Weekend Festival, considered the UK`s biggest free ticketed music event, has announced additions to its line-up, confirming more than 25 acts for the two day event.
British stars Ed Sheeran, Professor Green and Jessie J will join the likes of Leona Lewis, Plan B, Florence & The Machine and Tinie Tempah for the festival, which is to take place from 23 - 24 June on Hackney Marshes, the location chosen to mark the 2012 Olympics which starts in east London a month later.
International phenomenon David Guetta has also been lined up, with other additions including Chase & Status, Will.i.am, Dappy and Lana Del Rey. Organisers have made100, 000 tickets available for music fans hoping to catch a glimpse of their heroes.
Jason Carter, Radio 1`s event director for 2012, believes the festival epitomises the spirit of London 2012. He said: “This event will be a massive celebration in such a massive year for us all. This is a concert in the heart of east London and we will use it as an opportunity to shine a light on and celebrate young people of east London too”.
