One of the biggest award shows in indie and rock music, the NME Awards 2011 was held at the Brixton Academy in London this week. Musicians, celebs and fans attended one of rock’s biggest nights. No doubt televisions were thrown out of some windows of the
London Hotels by the rockers in town for the awards.
The award show gathered lots of famous faces such as Kate Moss and her fiancé Jamie Hince, Alexa Chung, Noel Fielding and Jo Whiley. They took to the NME red carpet to show off their outfits to make the awards funky yet glamorous. Once inside the Academy, they were treated to champagne and pizza.
The evening was buzzing as awards were giving out and champagne flowed. The show was presented by Shooting Stars’ character Angelos Epithemiou. My Chemical Romance were amongst the big winners of the night as they were given two awards for Best International Band and Best Video.
The NME paid tribute to Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl for being a Godlike Genius in music and for all his years spent in the music business. Other awards included Muse for Best Band, Laura Marling was given Best Solo Artist and Biffy Clyro were awarded Best Live Band. Glastonbury was also named Best Festival for the third year running.
