The Olympic Stadium has been shortlisted for one of the UK`s most prestigious architecture prizes, it has been revealed.

A magnificent addition to London`s famed sky line, the structure is one of six new buildings that will compete for the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Stirling Prize.

Celebrating its 17th year of recognising the best of new British architecture, the Stirling Prize winner will be announced in Manchester in October.

Bookmakers William Hill currently has the Olympic Stadium at 5/1 to win the esteemed award and its £20,000 prize.

Boasting an array of fine architectural structures and influences ranging from 17th century churches to the early 20th century Old Bailey, the capital is regarded as a haven for architecture buffs and culture vultures.
