Plans have been submitted by the London Legacy Development Corporation to create a ‘new part of London` in the Olympic Park after the games.

Located in the park`s southern end, The South Plaza will encompass a 28-acre space between the Aquatics Centre, the stadium and the ArcelorMittal Orbit sculpture.

It is scheduled to open in 2014 following the opening of the North Park in 2013 and will form part of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, which is being touted as one of Europe`s biggest building projects.

The South Plaza, designed by James Corner Field Operation, hosts a number of innovative new features including a series of outdoor ‘rooms`, such as a ‘labyrinth` fountain, a carousel and a performance place.

The benefits of hosting the Games are already starting to blossom in the capital. Make sure you enter into the Olympic spirit should you be planning a stay in one of the fantastic hotels in London this summer.
