A ‘rain room` has been installed at a gallery in the capital as part of a fascinating artistic experiment.
Sheets of rain will be smashing down within the walls of a bare room at the Barbican, whilst sensors designed to detect where visitors are standing attempt the difficult task of keeping them dry.
It has been labelled an ‘exercise in trust` by Artists Random International, with visitors to the rain room – a hundred square-metre downpour – backlit by a glaring spotlight, adding a dramatic, shadowy twist to this striking exhibition.
You don`t have to walk through the torrential downpour though, as visitors are also able to watch the dramatic art show materialise.
Dancers will also perform to the work at the Barbican`s Curve exhibition space, although dates have not been confirmed. Come and enjoy this fantastic, therapeutic exhibition of art whilst taking a break in one of the excellent
hotels in London over the coming months.
