Organisers have begun preparations to host the most eagerly anticipated awards ceremony in the West End.

Regarded as one of London`s most respected and prestigious events, the Olivier Awards will be held at the Royal Opera House on 15 April, celebrating the best British productions and performers to have graced the stage in 2011.

The ceremony will include a live link-up from London to New York, which will allow British stars performing on Broadway to join in the celebrations, whilst the show will also be broadcast on a big screen at Covent Garden

Chief Executive of the Society of London Theatre and Executive Producer of the awards Julian Bird believes the live link-up between Broadway and the West End is suitable for an important year in the English capital.

“I am delighted we have been able to extend our celebrations to New York, and this connection is particularly apt in a year in which we are working closer than ever with VisitBritain and London and Partners to deliver a warm welcome to theatre audiences during the London 2102 Olympic and Paralympic Games”, he said.

The nominations will be announced on 15 March, so why not make an early judgement yourself and book one of the fabulous London theatre breaks available?
