The Show
Thrilling, darkly funny, and wholly terrifying, 2:22 A Ghost Story is a sharp and sinister haunted-house tale and a keen exploration of class, faith, and family. New parents Jenny and Sam have just finished moving into the cavernous East End house they have partially refurbished, but something strange is happening. Every night at exactly 02:22, Jenny is woken by unsettling sounds: loud creaks and heavy footsteps, as if some unseen entity is moving in the darkness. Disturbingly, the activity seems centred on her new-born daughter's bedroom. Despite Sam's dismissive attitude, Jenny is convinced that the sounds are somehow supernatural, and is determined to discover exactly what is going on. Things come to a head at a boozy dinner party for Sam's friend Lauren and her new boyfriend Ben, a builder and firm believer in the paranormal. When Jenny convinces the group to wait up with her, tensions begin to build between them as old secrets come to light, and we wait with increasing dread as the clock draws ever closer to 02.22.

History of 2:22 A Ghost Story
2:22 A Ghost Story is the creation of writer Danny Robins, a former comedian who first made the leap to horror with the chilling and hugely popular BBC podcast series The Battersea Poltergeist. Robins' lifelong fascination with the supernatural, combined with his unique comic sensibilities, made him perfectly suited to write the incisive, witty story of an East-End haunting. Veteran director Matthew Dunster lent his considerable talent to the London production, and the show has been a runaway success ever since, terrifying audiences and critics alike in both the West End and Los Angeles.

Awards and What the Critics Say
2:22 has thrilled audiences since its release in 2022. Independent theatre critic Annabel Nugent called Robin's script 'tight and layered,' with moments that were 'genuinely terrifying.' Nick Curtis of the Evening Standard also praised the script and direction for building 'old-school scares...into the kind of modern milieu contemporary plays rarely depict.' The show also earned a Lawrence Olivier Award nomination for Best New Play for its initial run at the Noel Coward Theatre.
