The Show
Hallelujah! The spectacular show based on the 1992 film starring Whoopi Goldberg returns to the West End in March.
Deloris van Cartier is a dancing disco diva, who's life has an unexpected twist when she witnesses a murder. She is placed in protective custody in a convent surrounded by nuns and the disapproving Mother Superior and ends up finding her calling in the convent choir. The story is a heartwarming and hilarious one, which is sure to bring the soulful and uplifting tone to the Dominion Theatre. Olivier Award-winner Beverley Knight reprises her role as the sensational diva Deloris van Cartier, with Alexandra Burke taking on the lead role from 10 June. Burke is best known for winning the fifth series of the talent television show The X Factor, which she won with her winner's single "Hallelujah", which sold over 1 million copies in the UK in 2008 alone. The stars are joined on stage by Gavin and Stacey's Ruth Jones and Birds of a Feather's Lesley Joseph. Academy Award winner Alan Menken is the composer behind the Motown, soul and disco tracks for this show, he is best known for his work in Disney classics such as Hercules, Aladdin and The Little Mermaid. The show includes songs such as: "Fabulous Baby", "Spread the Love Around" and "Raise Your Voice".

History of Sister Act
The show had a regional premiere in 2006 in Pasadena, California, and after its major success (becoming the highest grossing show ever at the venue), it opened for its original West End production in 2009 at the London Palladium and starred Whoopi Goldberg, who played the lead role in the 1992 film of the same name. After even more success and excellent reviews, including Charles McNulty of the Los Angeles Times saying the musical had "Broadway blockbuster written all over it", the show made it to Broadway in 2011 at the Broadway Theatre. The show eventually had a UK tour, which ran from August 2016 to September 2017 and singer Alexandra Burke claimed the lead role of Deloris Van Cartier.
