The Show
Set against the majesty of the Serengeti Plains and to the evocative rhythms of Africa, Disney's multi-award winning musical 'The Lion King' will redefine your expectations of theatre.

A spectacular visual feast, this adaptation of Disney's much-loved film transports audiences to a dazzling world that explodes with glorious colours, stunning effects and enchanting music.

At its heart is the powerful and moving story of Simba - the epic adventure of his journey from wide-eyed cub to his destined role as King of the Pridelands PLEASE NOTE: strobe lighting is used several times during the performance.

Children under the age of 3 will not be admitted.

Children over 3 will be admitted, but they must be able to sit in their own seat quietly throughout the performance.

If they become restless, they may be asked to leave the auditorium.


History of the Lion King Musical
The 1994 hit Disney film the Lion King was first adapted for the stage in 1997 and opened in Minneapolis in the US, before moving to Broadway later that year. A UK production of the Lion King opened in London at the Lyceum Theatre in 1999 where it has been playing ever since. There have been numerous productions of the Lion King around the globe including Tokyo, Las Vegas, Madrid, Paris and Sydney.

  • The show uses over 232 puppets and includes 25 species of animal
  • The hit musical has been seen by over 50 million people around the world
  • For the Chinese version of the show, one of the songs was adapted into a Chinese pop song "Laoshu ai dami" which translates into "Mice Love Rice".
  • During the London production, the phrase "Hakuna Matata" meaning no worries, has been said over 87,500 times.
