Puerto del Carmen
Puerto del Carmen, once a little fishing village, has now become one of the most important tourists meccas of the province and the most important in Lanzarote. Its coast is a succession of marvellous beaches interspersed with small rocky outcroppings. Some of Lanzarote`s best beaches are here with waters that are calm all year. Puerto del Carmen`s beaches are easily accessible, family-friendly and generally safe for swimming. They offer a wide range of water sports and leisure facilities, good water quality and all the necessary infrastructures for an enjoyable, fun-filled day on the beach. The most famous beaches ? by many considered the island`s most beautiful ? are the yellow sand beaches Playa Grande and Playa de los Pocillos, both over one kilometre (0.6 mile) long.

Playa Blanca
Playa Blanca, situated in Yaiza, the southernmost part of the island, was once a fishing village and today is a tourist centre with a recreational port. The coast is dotted with a series of beautiful beaches. You can take a boat from Playa Blanca to Fuerteventura and within half an hour your vacation choices will have multiplied. Playa Blanca`s beautiful and calm sandy beaches have made this resort very popular with families.

Costa Teguise
Costa Teguise is the second largest tourist mecca on the island with great hotels and apartment complexes that exemplify the tourist model of this island where architecture and nature exist in harmony. Every year, Costa Teguise plays host to world championship wind surfing with the major riders on the circuit. Otherwise the beaches and centres of Costa Teguise retain a distinct tranquillity differentiating them from many parts of the Canaries. Should you ? or your kids ? look for more diversion, head for the aqua park, located just outside of town. One of Lanzarote`s hidden gems is Arrieta. This beach, just north of Costa Teguise, is unique. While most of the beaches of Lanzarote are covered with milky-white sand, Arrieta Beach has black sand. A little startling but well worth the visit - wear sandals though!

La Graciosa La Graciosa is a small island situated to the north of Lanzarote in what`s called the Chinijo Archipelago. The arm of the sea that separates these two is called El Rio (the river). La Graciosa enjoys the accolade of being the largest island in the Chinijo Archipelago with a variety of stunning beaches.
