Getting there:
Most visitors to the city arrive by plane into Mahon airport. This is the main airport for Menorca and is served by most of the world`s airlines plus many `lo-cost` airlines from all over Europe. Hotel Direct recommend you fly to this airport especially if you are on a short visit.
Getting around:
Public transport, although available is not frequently used by holidaymakers, who tend to either rent cars and mopets. Taxis and private transfers are also plentiful and very reliable.
Tipping:
10-15% is normal in cabs and restaurants (where a service charge is usually included in your bill).

Theatre

Punta Prima beach
To the east of San Luis is Punta Prima. One of Menorca`s finest beaches, Punta Prima is a large beach of fine white sand, very rocky at the eastern end. Situated in a small but growing resort with a good selection of bars and shops, easy parking right on the beach, sun beds water sports etc.


Binibequer beach
South of San Luis, Binibequer has a small sandy cove. With Binibeca Vell to the west and Cala Torret to the east, both with a selection of bars and restaurants. Beach bar, sun beds, water sports and easy parking available.

Cales Coves beach
On the way to Cala`n Porter, Cales Coves has a small coarse beach reached by a short walk down a steep sided limestone gorge. In this dramatic setting there are many caves high up in the walls of the gorge, making the exploration of the area very exciting for children and dads alike.

Cala en Porter beach
On the coast, south of the airport, Cala`n Porter has all the facilities of an established resort. The beach is reached from the resort by steps although there is additionally a regular shuttle from the town centre to the beach. Good beach with everything one needs for a fantastic time; easy parking, beach bars, sun beds and water sports.

Son Bou beach
South of Alayor, Son Bou has the longest beach on Menorca. The beach features three modern beach bars connected by a wooden path. Reassuringly the beach also boasts a red cross hut with lifeguards, sun beds, a good choice of water sports and plenty of space for everyone. The western side is popular with naturists. Son Bou can suffer from strong currents so please abide by the lifeguards` flag system.

Santo Tomas beach
Gran Santo Tomas can be found a little further west than Son Bou and through the village of Es Migjorn. The beach consists of a long narrow strip of soft white sand backed by hills. A very quiet resort with beach bars, water sports and parking facilities.

Cala Mitjana beach
South of Ferreries, situated down a small rocky track off the road from Ferreries to Cala Galdana. Travelling to the beach you depart the main road on the left hand side just before Cala Galdana. At the end of your travels you`ll arrive at an idyllic south facing cove, bounded by wooded cliffs. Easy to park, but no facilities.


Cala Galdana beach
South of Ferreries you`ll find Cala Galdana which is known locally as the "Queen of the Calas". The beach lies in a beautiful pine clad bay. The beauty of the bay is spell binding and the beach additionally benefits from full facilities including beach bars, restaurants and water sports.


Cala Turqueta beach
Cala Turqueta is just as nature intended with no facilities just a perfect white sandy beach. You`ll find sign posts from Ciutadella`s southern road to this Menorcan gem. The beach has a protected status and there is limited car parking so get there early in the summer months. Take food, drink, plenty of sun cream and shelter from the sun particularly if travelling with children.

Cala`n Bosc beach
South of Ciutadella, smallish beach of white sand. Large resort centred around a marina. Easy access, ample parking, beach bars and restaurants. Water sports are well developed.

Macarella beach
This beach is 14 kilometres from Ciutadella between es Castellet de Macarella and Punta de na Xulla. The beach is part of the Àrea Natural d`Especial Interès on the south coast of and is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Menorca. This cove is sandy but not very large and the high cliffs surrounding it are covered by thick pine trees. There is a wetland inhabited by eels and sea turtles and a stretch of the Camí de Cavalls located behind the beach gives this beach a wild aspect. The crystal clear water slopes gently and the swell is moderate. Access by car is easy. Follow the signs to the free private car park on the left, one kilometre from the beach. On foot the beach is reached by a footpath from Cala Galdana.
