The Lyceum Theatre is a 2,000-seat West End theatre located on Wellington Street, just off the Strand. The Lyceum has existed on this site since 1765 (although has been rebuilt a number of times). The present Lyceum Theatre opened in July 1834 when it first enjoyed the unique innovation of a balcony that overhung the dress circle. The Lyceum has hosted the West End Musical version of The Lion King since 1999 which has grossed over £289 million and been seen by more than eight million people.
