The Queen`s Theatre opened in 1907 and is a West End theatre located in Shaftesbury Avenue on the corner of Rupert Street. The Queen`s Theatre has enjoyed a rich tapestry of stage talent from Noël Coward, Marlene Dietrich, Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., Fred Astaire, John Gielgud, Jack Hawkins, Alec Guinness, Anthony Quayle and Basil Rathbone to Maggie Smith and Stephen Fry in more recent times. An extensive refurb was undertaken in 2009 which also increased seating capacity in the dress circle. Since 2004, the theatre has played host to Cameron Mackintosh`s Les Misérables which overtook Cats as the longest running musical ever in October 2006. Hotels near Queen`s Theatre are of course perfect for a theatre break taking in the Queens famous show fondly called Les Mis. The Shaftesbury Avenue vicinity also means guests will be in the centre of the West End very close to Piccadilly, Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square.
