"Lovely Place"
We stayed here on a 3 night stay, never used Hotels Direct before, we will be using them again. Hotel & rail tickets what a bargain. Certainly recommend the The Place to stay, central to everything, helpful staff, only down side we were on the top floor, no lift! (4 floors).

"Not as good as it looks"
Although the room was reasonably comfortable it was in need of a makeover. The bathroom was quite small, no toilet roll holder and the power shower did not work as it should so very slow trickle of water. We did not eat at the hotel as we had experienced poor service at breakfast, I ask for fried eggs and my wife asked for an omelette. The eggs took 20 minuets to land and the omelette 45 minutes. I say omelette in the loosest term, never seen anything like it before (didn`t taste very good either). We would return to Edinburgh but at a different hotel.

"Great value and great location."
We had a great 2 night break in the city. The hotel was handy for all the sights and attractions. The staff in the hotel were friendly and efficient. The room was adequate - clean and tidy with usual facilities. Only drawback was we were on the top floor with no lift. This didn`t deter from our mini break as we are both fit.

"Boutique hotel in great location for City break"
We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. We booked a superior room and it was massive with two queen sized beds, plenty of storage space and a lovely bathroom. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was very enjoyable and the choice of hot and cold food was very good. We would definately stay here again.

"accessability to room & noise level"
Booked this hotel owing to its proximity to the Playhouse. Did not feel the need to mention when booking that I am disabled & walk with the aid of a stick; I also have a heart condition which further limits me physically therefore a room on the third floor in a hotel was far from ideal. We also found the hotel extremely noisey, in the evening the noise travelled right up the stairwell from the bar & in the morning the door of the room adjacent to ours banged closed about twenty times from around 8.30am, we discovered on investigation that it was the staff cleaning and leaning the lock on the door closed as they went in and out, perhaps the door could have been left ajar??

The only drawback was the 70 steps to our room. On the plus side the view was great.
