"Disappointment, especially quality of staff and rooms"
Leisure facilities didnt mention opening times being restricted for children, wanted to use facilities in the evenings after sightseeing and couldnt because of the restrictions. Rooms fairly basic - what would expect for cheaper hotel. Breakfast again basic Hotel reception looked nice and akin to quaity hotel, but then staff were sometimes quite abrupt and not as helpful as you would expect. Many looked like guests were an annoyance. Fire alarms went off in rooms twice on first night, reception again abrupt with information and not really apologetic dispite this waking guests from sleep. Overall would not stay there again...too many faults to risk paying this fee for this hotel experience....

"not 4*"
no leisure facilities available! gym, sauna, pool all shut. room was a double but only one robe, poor mini bar, no pay tv, all advertised. poor local shops, pubs, restaurants (fair distance). charings bar was poor (no prices of drinks on view, did not open until 5pm, bar tender was hardly ever on view!!,)asked reception to telephone a cab and was greeted with the one word "no"!!! was told to stand at curb and flag one down!!!! then the cleaners removed the hotel guest questionaire so was unable to give views. would not recommend.

"Good but could have been better quite easily."
Rooms were very nice. Directions to the hotel were very confusing and we had conflicting opinions as to which was the nearest tube station so arrived quite flustered. Reception staff nice and friendly - restaurant staff a bit scary at breakfast!

"great hotel"
Lovely hotel. When we were shown our room the bed for our kids was quite small..just a sofa bed..We informed reception and the next day we were upgraded to a bigger room with 2 double beds with no extra charge..We didn`t spend a lot of time in the room as we were out sightseeing all day every day. I found all staff very helpful when we did need information etc. and the indian restaurant was very nice and reasonably priced.

"LACK OF THE POOL"
We were not made aware on booking and until we arrived that the pool was unavailable. We specifically booked the hotel for the pool provision accepting that it was not as close the west end as we would have liked. Apart from this, the hotel and staff were very good. Regards Carl Southern

"VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THERE WAS NO NOITIFICATION THAT THE POOL WAS CLOSED DURING OUR STAY !!!!!!!"
VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THERE WAS NO NOITIFICATION THAT THE POOL WOULD BE CLOSED DURING OUR STAY. I WAS GOING TO BOOK A CHEAPER HOTEL ALTHOUGH IT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE SAME STANDARD AS THE HOLIDAY INN, BUT I WAS WILLING TO PAY MORE BECAUSE OF THE POOL THAT YOU WERE ADVERTISING ON YOUR WEB SITE. I WOULD HAVE APPRECIATED AN EMAIL INFORMING ME OF THE CHANGES TO THE HOTEL AS MY FAMILY WERE LOOKING FORWARD TO RELAXING IN YOUR POOL AT NIGHT AFTER WALKING ROUND LONDON ALL DAY.

"Not a 4* + hotel by our experiences"
Our room was very small considering it was stated to be a family room. We could not pass each other. The hairdryer did not work, but as we were in a rush we did not call housekeeping to replace it. The air conditioning was noisey and there were not enough pillows for us each to have 2. Also as this was a family room possibly sachets of hot chocolate would have been most welcomed by the children and possibly a biscuit? Generally the housekeeping was ok but had I paid £280.00 + per night would have been even more upset. We have stayed in many 4* hotels who have offered a much higher standard of room under the same rating. On a positive note the receptionist was welcoming on arrival and did try, although unsuccessfully, to obtain a room at a lower level for us as I do not use lifts. We were accommodated on the 5th floor and so there were lots of back stairs to be walked. Hoping you find my comments useful to aid the stay of future guests. Liz Dawe

"Not preferred choice, The Premier Inn is much better and much closer to the station."
Having stayed at both The Premier Inn and The Holiday Inn I would strongly advise you choose the Premier Inn. The Holiday Inn was clean and the room comfortable, but carrying children and suitcases the half an hour walk from the station along very busy roads is no joke, do not underestimate how far The Holiday Inn is from Kings Cross Station! Our booking included breakfast, but it appears this was only a limited choice and did not include the full cooked breakfast. We booked a family room, but this only contained two towels, one dressing gown, three cups and two saucers! I would not recommend The Holiday Inn, go to The Premier Inn which is a stone`s throw from the station, the rooms are exceptional and the breakfast to die for!

"you pay for what you get"
the hotel room was quiet yet the hotel had lots of guests, the sofa bed for the kids was uncomfortable and the room had automatic room control it was alittel too cold and we could not get it any warmer a blanket out of the wardrobe would have been sufficient though. We chose continental breakfast which was pretty basic and so busy (full english was an upgrade of £7.00 each which was rather expensive) ordered extra pillows and they were there for that night. overall location not bad we used the busesto get into the centre, clean rooms the conceirge were helpful. next time we would pay alittle more money and stay alittle nearer to the centre.

"Good hotel. Convenient location."
Enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn King`s Cross. Rooms comfortable, staff helpful and buffet breakfast excellent. Only grumble would be that the swimming pool is still shut for refurb - we were told that it would be re-opening beginning of July!!!

"We had a very enjoyable stay, staff where very friendly"
I really enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn, we arrived before 10am and even though check in wasnt until 2pm they let us check into our room, staff at the holiday where very friendly, if I was staying in London again I would go back to the Holiday Inn

"clean but tired looking rooms, nice breakfast."
Staff are functional but not friendly and didnt say thank you for staying here just "you are lucky you reserved a room we are full". Tired rooms with faded bedding. I requested a room with 2 double beds and ended up waiting 40 minutes for a valet to make up a sofa bed for my very tired children. It felt a bit like camping and there were other more central hotels i would have booked instead but was led to believe i was getting 2 double beds. A "thank you for staying, have a nice day " on departure would have been nice instead of us handing in the key and the receptionist grunting "thats all". Never again. Very disappointing.

"Kings cross is misleading as it is quite a walk and there are no restaurant facilities close at hand"
should have been informed that the pool was out of action.Staff on reception could have been more friendly, I accecpt they were busy however they should always remain polite with customers.

"It would be nice if you didn`t have to ask for what you`d reserved"
I booked a non-smoking room. Turned up late as expected, and went exhausted to my room. It was a smoking room and smelled awful. Went down to reception and was told there were no rooms spare. I politely point out that I`d made a point of booking a non-smoking room and suddenly one is available. Why did staff initially lie to me? Is that policy? I left my sunglasses in my room. I know this as I took a photo of the room before checking out, and can see them there. It was stupid of me, but you`d think when they were found it wouldn`t have been difficult to contact me to let me know I could pick them up. When I rang to book the room I gave my details and asked that they would not be used for promotions. The next day I got an email promotion. Please stop these - it is unlawful to send promotions when a client has requested contact details not be used for them.

"Very clean reasonable size room, 10-15min walk to subway is not the most scenic."
Staff - helpful & polite. Rooms - clean, nice decore, reasonable size. Location - close to bus stop but 10 - 15min walk to subway, streets seem run down and not the sort of area to hang around for long.

"only thing that was off putting about the room was the smell."

"Overall a great stay!!"
Helpfull staff. Clean spacious rooms. Great food in the Indian resturaunt. Not as close to kings cross as the description suggests but if you`re there for shopping it`s about £5 in a taxi to Oxford st!! Would recommend to families and people in London on business!

"The room booked wasn`t provided"
The room booked was a family room with a double and two twins (we have a teenage boy and girl). The first room provided was a room with a double bed an one must assume a pull out sofa, not made up nor beding provided. On complaint to reception a second room was found which had two double beds, not ideal. Reception passed the buck to the booking agent. If this be the case then you failed to provide the accomodation requested either through poor communications or dishoestly making a deal knowing that what was requested wasn`t available. Neither reason is acceptable, the second being despicable and probably when looked into further be unlawful.

"Disappointing"
We had to move room as the tap didn`t work. Also the room was grubby and we found a pair of someone`s dirty underwear in one of the beds. This was not upto standard of other Holday Inns that I have stayed in.
