The 3* Mill Hotel is situated on the river bank in the village of Sudbury in Suffolk. This historic mill building retains many of its original features including the original mill wheel, which has been incorporated into the restaurant and bar. Views out across the peaceful water meadow make this a great location to unwind and enjoy the picturesque countryside which inspired the artist John Constable. Art lovers can also visit Gainsborough`s House which is 5 minutes walk from the hotel and contains the largest collection of work by the artist in the UK. 18 minutes drive from the hotel is the historic town of Lavenham which is considered one of the finest examples of a Medieval English town and has over 300 buildings of architectural and historical interest. The university city of Cambridge is also approximately 1 hours drive from the hotel for those wishing to venture further a field. As well as an onsite car park, which is free of charge to hotel guests, Sudbury railway station is conveniently just one mile away.
Getting there:
BY ROAD: Heading north-east on the M11, use the left 2 lanes to take the A120 (E) exit towards Colchester/Stanstead Airport. Keep right at the fork in the road to continue towards A120. After approximately 16.5 miles at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit and stay on the A120. At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit onto A131. After 1.5 miles there will be another roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Broad Road/A131 and continue to follow A131 for the next 12.6 miles. Turn left onto Walnut Tree Lane and the hotel will on your left..
BY TRAIN: From Sudbury Railway Station walk west towards Great Eastern Road and then turn right to join this road. Turn left onto Station Road and then right onto Friars Street. Almost immediately turn left onto Gainsborough Street and then right onto Gregory Street. Walnut Lane will be a left turn and then the hotel will be ahead of you.
