The Attraction
The view from the Shard is located 244 metres above street level and offers the best panoramic views of the city of London, and is almost twice the height of any other viewing platform in the capital. After taking a high speed lift to the platform visitors can use a range of interactive features in a variety of languages to find and learn more about the many landmarks which can been seen. To finish of the tour visitors can ascend to the open air viewing platform and marvel as the shards of glass that form the roof disappear into the sky.

With its central location Hotel Direct offer a wide choice of Hotels within easy walking distance of the Shard allowing visitors to partake in this fantastic experience.

History of the Attraction
Designed by Renzo Piano the shard has come to dominate the London skyline with its stark angular design that contrasts with the elaborate architecture in the surrounding area. The concept behind the building was one of a self-contained city, and with its retail spaces, offices and hotel it fulfils the criteria perfectly. Officially opened by Boris Johnson in 2013 the View from the Shard had over a million visitors in its first year and continues to be one of the most popular attraction sin London.

Interesting facts
Over 95% of the materials used in its construction were recycled.

The glass used in its construction is enough to cover 8 football fields.
