The Show
Kinky Boots delivers an emotionally charged, impassioned feel-good underdog experience whose timeless message of diversity, equality and acceptance from both our fathers and peers alike will speak to families of all ages. Bold, sassy and outrageously funny, a real sense of community, inspirational friendships against the odds and an evolving love story combine splendidly to tell a compelling tale. Penned by Broadway legend Harvey Fierstien with lyrics by the irrepressibly multi-talented Cyndi Lauper, Kinky Boots sees fourth-generation son Charlie following reluctantly in his father's footsteps after a tragic death in the family. His struggle to stay afloat finds him crossing paths with a diva named Lola and her drag act, The Angels whose eternal enthusiasm helps Charlie and his budding love interest Lauren rediscover the drive to defy the odds, and a particular niche market to boot! From the factory floors of Northampton to a spectacular finale on the catwalks of Milan, Kinky Boots takes the audience on a wild glitzy ride that empowers the spirit and warms the soul.

History of Kinky Boots
Only a year after the 2005 independent British comedy landed in cinemas, Tony & Olivier Award winning producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig began putting together their vision of a larger than life musical. The key lay within direction and choreography maestro Jerry Mitchell (Hairspray, Legally Blonde) who would later reunite old friends Fierstien and Lauper in 2010, completing a dynamic team responsible for a hilarious, heart-warming creation as beautifully inspiring as it is flamboyant. In 2015 Kinky Boots made its debut on the West End to electrifying success, with bookings being extended twice up until 28th May 2016.

Awards & what the Critics say
Kinky Boots' remarkable array of honours includes six Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Lyrics for Cyndi Lauper, the first female standalone winner in that category. Unrelenting popularity on the West End saw the show winning the Radio 2 Audience Award for Best New Musical in 2015, based on public voting at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards. Three Outer Critics Circle awards from nine nominations completes an emphatic list of accolades truly demonstrating the vast array of raw talent Kinky Boots brings to theatre patrons on both sides of the Atlantic.

The London Evening Standard calls Kinky Boots a "Glorious high-kicking romp, its energy is infectious", while the Hollywood Reporter applauds "The freshest, most fabulous feel-good musical of the decade".

Interesting facts about Kinky Boots
Based on factory owner Steve Pateman's true story on how he created his Divine Footwear brand, the inspiration for Kinky Boots originally came from a 1999 BBC documentary episode of Trouble At The Top.

Unlike other Broadway hits, Kinky Boots started life in a try-out venue, the Bank of America Theatre in Chicago in 2012 - it has since wowed audiences on Broadway and even completed a national tour of America in 2014, before landing in the West End in 2015.
