The Show
The Commitments tells the tale of Jimmy Rabbitte, a working class music fan who dreams of creating the best soul band ever to come out of Dublin. After putting a classified advert in the local paper the band is formed from a range of odd balls and misfits many of whom have no musical experience at all, which he names the Commitments. As the band get to know each other and their instruments there is trouble brewing as the backing singers are all fighting over the middle age horn player the saxophonist has a leaning towards jazz and the lead singer is entering the Eurovision Song Contest.

Featuring such classic songs as 'try a little tenderness', 'I heard it through the grapevine' and 'Mustang Sally' this is a show suitable for the whole family, based on the 1987 novel by Roddy Doyle the story was originally told in the Oscar nominated 1991 film. Adapted for the stage by Roddy Doyle himself and directed by award winning director Jamie Lloyd, this multi million pound production has been wowing audiences and critics alike and continues to play to packed houses.

With a highly experienced crew including award winning set designer Soutra Gimour and sound designer Rory Madden who has worked with some of the biggest names in music, audiences can sit back and enjoy over 20 soul classics as well as the comedy which has made this such a beloved story.
