The Show
After selling out at the Royal Court Theatre, Jez Butterworth's The Ferryman is now set to hit the West End. Directed by Academy Award winner Sam Mendes and designed by Rob Howell, tickets for The Ferryman sold out in record time and performances will now transfer to the Gielgud Theatre from 20 June to 7 October 2017.

Set in Rural Derry in 1981, The Ferryman takes the audience to the Carney farmhouse during their annual harvest. A hive of activity, a day of hard work on the land and a traditional night of feasting and celebrations lie ahead. However, this year proceedings will be interrupted by visitor.

Casting for The Ferryman includes English actor Paddy Considine. The actor, filmmaker and musician has appeared in '24 Hour Party People' (2002), 'Hot Fuzz' (2007), 'The Bourne Ultimatum' (2007) as well as television appearances in 'Peaky Blinders' and 'The Suspicions of Mr Whicher'.

The Royal Court's artistic director, Vicky Featherstone described the play as a "mighty family epic with generations of one family crammed into its dynamic world."

After selling out at the Royal Court Theatre, West End producer Sonia Friedman said, "It is thrilling to know that wider audiences will now have a chance to see this extraordinary new work from one of our most important writers. The scope, scale and ambition of Jez's new play deserves this opportunity."
