The Show
Based on the 2015 psychological thriller novel written by British author Paula Hawkins, The Girl on the Train follows the life of 32-year-old Rachel Watson; An alcoholic who longs for a better life and has a daily routine of going on a train. There, she looks out of the window and secretly watches the life of a couple that she has nicked named 'Jess' and 'Jason'. She gazes at a life that she wishes she could have because she believes their lives are perfect. The girl that Rachel has secretly been watching has disappeared and Rachel finds herself in the middle of the mystery as a witness and even a suspect.

History of The Girl on the Train
The theatre show was originally written as a novel in 2015 by Paula Hawkins where it became a worldwide hit. Within the first 2 months of its release, the book has sold over one million copies and broke the record for being the longest running number 1 selling hardback book on the charts for 20 weeks. The novel was turned into a film in 2016 which stared Emily Blunt. The film rights were acquired before the book was published in 2014. The Girl on the Train theatre show has started its tour with the premier at the Theatre Royal in Nottingham from Monday 20th May - Saturday 25th May 2019. From there, its journey will take it all around the United Kingdom with some stops including Dublin, Belfast, Brighton, Oxford, Birmingham and then all the way down to Plymouth. It will be stopping at London's West end from 23rd July - 17th August 2019. Rachel Watson will be played by Samantha Womack, a television star most well known for her role in BBC1's EastEnders where she plays Ronnie Mitchell along with her performance in the hit film Kingsman: The Secret Service where she plays the lead characters mum Michelle Unwin.
