The Show
It's alive! Comedy extraordinaire, Mel Brooks brings his Broadway musical Young Frankenstein to the Garrick Theatre. Co-creator of The Producers with Susan Stroman, the two have reimagined Brook's original musical for the London stage.

Inspired by the original Frankenstein legend, this revamped comedy version follows a young Dr. Frankenstein as he attempts to complete his grandfather's work and bring a corpse to life. Along with his loveable helper Igor, voluptuous lab assistant Inga and despite his narcissistic fiancťe Elizabeth, Frankenstein is successful in creating a creature. However, none of this comes without scary and hilarious complications.

Featuring hit songs "The Transylvania Mania", "He Vas My Boyfriend" and "Putting on the Ritz", this new Young Frankenstein breathes new life into a classic. Brooks, 90, set to be awarded a Bafta fellowship this year said the following about his revitalised show:

"It is a pretty damn good show but I rewrote it because it was too long. It will be a lot better because it is speedy and swift now and I've kind of cockneyed it up a little bit. Some of the lyrics were very American but now there are more English references."

History of Young Frankenstein
Brooks directed the original Young Frankenstein film in 1974. Starring Gene Wilder, it ranks No. 28 on Total Film magazine's readers' "List of the 50 Greatest Comedy Films of All Time."

Brooks went on to take the musical version to Broadway in 2007. The production went onto tour the US.
