"Room for improvement"
Nice original structure in a convenient location near central Birmingham. The new building with the majority of the rooms looks like a sore thumb next to the main historic hotel. I stayed in the new (read: 1970s) part. Pros: good location, good food, free parking, friendly staff, full bar and restaurant on site, peaceful garden area Cons: needs plenty of attention, slightly run down, missing on attention to detail. For example, the barrier in the car park is busted off? looks like someone rammed through it! The wall section behind the radiator had no render, just a big piece of insulation board on display. The dinner menu in the restaurant was shabby looking, giving a bad first impression of an otherwise delicious meal.

"Hope to return one day!"
We had an overnight stay here for the occasion of our sons graduation from Birmingham University. We have nothing but praise for the hotel, despite our very short stay. Lovely room, comfy beds, dark thick curtains and peace. Our breakfast was delicious as was our bar meal on the day of our arrival and all the members of staff whom we encountered were friendly and accommodating. When we next visit Birmingham, this will definitely be our place to stay.
