Built in 1906 and retaining many of the original features from when it was the Headquarters of the North Eastern Railway, the hotel blends traditional décor and modern amenities. An ideal location from which to explore York, the hotel is just 4 minutes walk from the railway station and within easy walking distance of many landmarks and places of interest. York Minster, the city`s cathedral, is approximately 10 minutes on foot from the hotel as is the National Railway Museum (which is free to enter). No visit to York would be complete without visiting The Shambles, also a 10 minute walk away, a preserved Elizabethan street with its unique shops and Betty`s Tea Rooms offering traditional Afternoon Tea. Getting there:
BY ROAD: Heading south on the A1(M) take the A59 exit to York/Knaresborough/Harrogate Airport. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto A59. Continue for 10 miles and at the roundabout take the 2nd exit and stay on A59. After 1.3 miles turn left onto Water End and then right onto Salisbury Road, continue onto Salisbury Terrace and then almost immediately turn right onto Kingsland Terrace. Make a left turn onto Leeman Road and then continue onto Station Rise and then turn left onto Station Avenue/A1036. Make a slight right to stay on Station Avenue and then turn right at the 1st cross street onto Station Road/A1036. Turn left onto Station Rise and the hotel will be on your left.
BY TRAIN: From York Railway Station head east, turn left and then right towards Station Road. Make a left turn onto Station Road and then turn right onto Station Rise. Make a slight right to stay on Station rise and the hotel will be on your left.
