"THE STAFF ARE EXCELLENT AND MOST HELPFUL."
The hotel is about 30/40 mins walk to Princess Street, not the 20 it says in the write up, so be prepared for quite a walk, although the route is flat. The rooms are in need of freshening up but they are spotlessly clean, although when we were there in December the rooms and for that matter the hotel was very hot but better to be hot than cold. The food is excellent, from breakfast, to lunch and through to dinner, it was well presented and tasted as good as it looked. Finally the staff, were very helpful and efficient, making our stay very enjoyable.

"Very pleasant staff, despite air of decay"
Somewhat tired hotel - last fitted out in the 1980s. Very pleasant staff and good wholesome breakfast. Pleasant well-stocked lively barRoom sad with refurbishment desperately needed. However bed comfortable and clean and room spacious enough. Bathroom needing upgrading with faulty shower and missing lightbulbs but water hot and plentiful. The most off-putting thing was the smell in the room which was very reminiscent of an old people`s home....I would love to be more positive as I think this place could be lovely.

"very poor"
Booked a double room, double bed smoking. Got single room with two single beds pushed together with a big lump in the middle which gave me back pain. And it was a no smoking room despite the hotel being empty. The furniture was so close together I could not get past the bed (I had to climb over the bed to get to the window) and I couldnt get access to the ketlle and tea making facilities. Staff were surly, breakfast in the room seemed to be a real problem and the heating was on in the hotel (there was a pipe in the room that was so hot, we couldnt touch it) despite it being over 70 degrees outside. Hardly any loo roll in the loo..... no room service menu..the list is endless. This hotel needs to The only redeeming factors were: Lovely grounds and building. Lots of parking, easy to find plus the duty night manager was WONDERFUL (the Irish guy) - he was soooo focussed on service, unlike the other staff. The bar food was very good if not a tad expensive.
