This was the cheapest hotel I could find, as I didn`t want a hostel, im too old for that. I presumed it would be a dump, but it was not and was great value for the price. Its up near the uni and not in the town centre, but only a short walk. The staff were so so friendly and made you feel very welcome. I did not know breakfast was included so that was a nice surprise and it was lovely. Yes the rooms are dated and could do with some TLC but for the price I was very happy.

"Aiming to please"
Staff worked hard to make our stay comfortable. The room had everything we needed but could do with a refurb. Here for one night unplanned stay The Washington met our need, parking is available though limited. We arrived around 4.30pm and managed to get one of the 2 remaining spaces. Would possibly stay again. The average score is for the room not the staff who were excellent. Thanks

"Comfortable stay"
... For the price we paid wasn`t to bad, basic breakfast, rooms dust clear, but in need of decorating. Friendly helpfull staff. Although we paid for our stay in advance, be prepared for little extras, 6.00 pound parking behind Hotel, four pound for wifi. Enjoyed our stay. Just needs a little fine tuning !

"excellent service and food"
The hotel is an old building in the Clifton area of Bristol, with pleasant and helpful staff and very good food at breakfast and in the adjoining jointly owned restaurantl/pub.My single room was up two sets of stairs overlooking a pleasant town street.Plenty of nice touches such as coffee and cafetiere, variety of tea bags and paper hankies.Although it is clean with fresh bed linen, my room was badly in need of redecoration. The paint needs stripped and new wallpaper hung. It also needs new curtains and maybe even new furniture and, for me, I should have asked for an en suite toilet and shower room, in spite of having a wash hand basin in the room.CONCLUSION:If you don`t mind the poor decoration the food and the service is excellent.

Situated in Clifton very nice hotel, all staff very friendly and helpful. Good choice for breakfast. Lovley tea, proper coffee with a cafetiere in room and very yummy bisuots abd fruit too!!! Top Notch

"A very good hotel and reasonably priced"
The Washington Hotel in Clifton is not pricey and therefore people should realise that they are not staying at The Ritz. That said, the greeting and smiles at reception were cheerful and genuine, the room was clean with a superbly comfortable bed, the breakfast was nicely served and sustaining. For the money charged I would say it is an excellent place.
