"Hotel ok but very disapointing breakfast!"

The hotel was fine, apart from the bathroom floor! The breakfast on the other hand was very disappointing! The (not very) hot food looked like it had been put out first thing and just left still there. The bacon was very stiff and dry and felt like old leather. Parts were off colour. The fried eggs were solid and over cooked. The only food that was hot was the tinned tomato`s and mushrooms! There was no staff around to ask for fresh food. Not what you expect from a Britannia hotel!

"Location is the biggest plus for us"

Its the second time I stayed there. The staff are reasonably friendly and the room quite spacious (old stule "real" keys too) but both times I stayed, our Twin Room had the strange feature (which I have never seen in any other British hotel) of no bedside lights at all. - just ceiling lights and a powerful table lamp on the table near the TV. There was a wall light switch between our 2 beds, which the hotel services in-room guide said "one switch controls the ceiling light and the other is for the bedside light". But we tested it with all lights off and one switch (presumably the bedside light one) had no effect at all. The location of this hotel (bus stop outside and Chalk Farm underground pretty close (under 10 mins) along a level road) - 2 stops from Euston if you use the Northern Line City branch - is what brings us back here.

"Rooms"

Very basic rooms the beds where uncomfortable, lots of noise through the night from the local residents outside, not the hotels fault but all adds to the experience. Breakfast was really good and found the staff to be helpful.

"Only stay on a budget"

Wallpaper peeling off, damp and mould all around room. Sticky and stained carpets. Uncomfortable beds. Dirty bathrooms. We stayed here knowing it would be budget but for a 3* we expected it to everyone clean. It wasn`t. This is more like an unrated-2* at best. I`ve stayed in cleaner and nicer hostels!

"damp!"

we were allocated a room in the lower floor, so basically the basement, which smelled very damp, there was no air circulation and we could not get the feeling that we could breath easy due to the damp, stuffy air. When we got to our bedroom, we were apparently lucky to even have a window, we could see that the top corners of the bedroom had black damp spots, the radiators did not work and the bedroom was very cold. The bathroom was clean but the tub looked damp as well, decor very old. We were cold all night. What made it less pleasant was the lack of hot/warm water. there was no hot water available so we had to wash in freezing cold water. The reception gave no explanation as to why there was no hot water other than there is none in the hotel at present but they didn`t explain why.. The breakfast was ok, I wouldn`t say it was amazing but it did its job. As great as the location was (which must be the best thing about the hotel) I don`t think I`ll be returning to this hotel.

When we arrived I could not understand the receptionist only caught some of what she said. There was a language barrier. We did book a non smoking room, but were told that the room was still occupied. So agreed to stay in a smoking room as it happened the room was adequate. We also booked a taxi via hotel and nearly lost it due to staff incompetence. On a good note when my daughter and I came back from the theatre we were served a lovely sandwich and lager in the bar for which were very grateful. The prices were not exorbitant. The beds were comfortable. We slept well..

"service poor"

Lots of things broken, staff do not speak English very well or understand looking after people who stay at the hotel. The bar does not even have ice or an ice bucket?

Room was smelling of alcohol from previous night and had to get moved to basement room. While room certainly better the extractor fan in bathroom did not work. Despite advising attendant to inform reception staff nothing was rectified. The staff were very courteous and polite throughout, however, I believe they could have acted with a little more expediency regarding minor complaints.

"Old Mattresses"

The mattresses in my room were very uncomfortable with the springs being very prominent. Obviously, they were old and needed replacement. I reported this to the Hotel Manageress who showed appropriate concern. Otherwise, the hotel was good with friendly staff and inexpensive food options.

"Good value and easy for central London"

Rooms were good for price. Reasonably spacious, clean, hot showers. Staff friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast could have had more choice of meats and cheese but minor point. Close enough to Chalk Farm tube and buses. Nice pub Washington just 50 metres away with good pub grub. Overall good value for 3 star hotel (so don`t expect 5 star standards) and I`d certainly book again.

"Ask for a room with a window"

We arrived at the hotel mid afternoon and was told our room was in the basement!! As we entered the room the heat just hit you and there were no sources of air coming into the room other than a fan which just ended up circulating hot air. It was very hard to try and sleep due to the heat/humidity. The room was clean and bed was comfy. Food and drink were very reasonable for London. I would stay here again but would ensure I had a room above ground with a window.

"Good Clean Hotel"

This Great value for money Hotel located in North Camden. It is about a ten minute walk from Chalk Farm station. Hotel is very clean, hot showers and clean towels...everything that you require for action packed weekend in London.Staff were very helpful. We stayed for one of the themed dinners `Mexican Night` and we thought it was great value for money....It`s such a pity that more guests don`t avail of it!If you are looking for a basic, clean, quiet hotel a few train stops from central London at an unbeatable price, this is the place for you. (If you`re looking for the Ritz etc you`re going to have to pay for it!)Will definitely return.Thank you Hotel Britannia for the excellent weekend in London!

"Better than we expected after reading reports on Trip Adviser."

We chose this hotel with regard to price, and location. Close to Euston station and within easy reach of all tourist attractions, as we were taking a grandchild on a short half-term break. We knew it was a budget hotel but it fulfilled all of our requirements. The decor in our room would benefit with a bit of updating, but the room was clean. All the staff were pleasant and attentive, and the breakfasts were very good.We would visit again.

This hotel is confortable although the rooms are in need of a little renovation. Nice bar area and good choice of items for breakfast. The walk to Chalk Farm tube station is about 15 minutes. We were quite happy with our stay here.

I was a little worried before our visit to this hotel, as there were some bad reviews. However We found that these worries were unfounded. The decor may be a little dated in places, but the important requirements - clean bedroom, bedding and clean bathroom, were there. The breakfast was lovely, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The staff were also very helpful with storing our luggage on the day of our arrival and again when we left. We would stay there again.

"An old hotel which needs updating, and because booked cheaper online we were put in a rubbish room."

Where do I start with this hotel:1. We were given an underground room with no window so it was very stuffy, and it didn`t appear to have any airflow into/out of the room!2. The room was next to a cleaners cupboard so were woken up at 5am when the cleaners began working.3. The stack of chairs being stored next to our room were being moved around at 6am by staff.4. The corridor our room was on, stank of cigarette smoke (we requested a non-smoking room).5. The walls were so thin, we woke up everytime someone walked passed the door during the night and the neighbouring room occupants sounded like they were in the same room as us when they were talking. So had 2 terrible nights sleep.6. The continental breakfast ran out of specific cereals, and they didn`t have any left to restock!= Overall very disappointed with this hotel - worst sleep I have ever had (and I am a frequent traveller with work). Only good points were the location, and the bathroom had been refurbished.
