"Staff make the hotel what it is - fantastic !!"
We stayed for my wife`s birthday and the hotel made a great effort to make us feel welcome and comfortable !! We were upgraded to a lovely duplex suite (which was a nice touch but is not the main reason for the glowing review). We were delivered a birthday cake which was a lovely surprise ! Generally everyone we came into contact with were extremely polite and helpful. Will stay again for sure !!!

The staff were very good. We were put in a room with electrical problems. Basically trip switch going off and no power, no telephone in the night. They offered to move us at 0130 but we just needed sleep. But no power before breakfast. They did move us after breakfast. We found the hotel very difficult to find rooms, all guests were wandering round. The towels and sheets were not 5 star.

Lovely hotel, spotlessly clean and extremely pleasant and helpful staff. Thoroughly recommend the hotel and also, without doubt, the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in!!!

"A great memory, a lovely room and superb staff. 10 out of 10."
I booked the hotel as part of a suprise for my girlfriend and it totally lived up to it`s five star billing. The rooms have an awesome contemporary boutiquey feel and are really welcoming and comfy. The hotel is the same. It kind of feels like it`s a gem hidden away behind the Barbican Centre which is a good thing! The staff are very attentive and welcoming and really make you feel like they want to make your stay better which is something that can`t be said for all hotels. We both had a great time and I would definately stay there again and recommend it for a romantic break.

"New with the Old"
Having stayed at the other Montcalm hotel this is a league below, having been transformed from an old brewery it is a quaint hotel with certain features which give it character, the downside is the travelling to get to your room ,it is not for the old and infirm, the rooms are well decked out and staff friendly and helpful, the breakfast was very good, hotel is a long way from the main center of London, taxi about £20 a time, overall ok, had better value nearer the center.
